The Beowulf Story
Beowulf has been translated many times, but a prose translation, which cuts nothing (many versions cut a lot), which adds nothing (guess), which tries to maintain the original poetic devices (verse translations often do this, but not usually prose), but which also tries to incorporate some of the styles of modern narrative (like prose), is, to put it simply, not a very common thing. It’s not a long story, but it is the beginning of English Literature, and also pretty fun.
