If ‘yes’ there is a chance that they are a member of the legions of the undead, who, lacking normal pain receptors or even basic instincts for self-preservation, tend to get a bit tatty after a while. If you can get close enough to look, without being eaten, take a peek at the wound. If it is healed, pink, scabbed, or even simply bleeding fresh red blood, then this is NOT a sign of a ravening animated corpse. Zombies do not bleed fresh blood, nor do they scab or heal cleanly. Zombie wounds are black with old blood and either ooze vile smelling goo or are dried up and crusty. I know ‘dried up and crusty’ is a common descriptive term for a teacher, but believe me, this is different.
If ‘no’ you are still not out of the woods. This may be a recently infected teacher who has yet to suffer the random quirks of fate which result in missing digits etc. etc. When in doubt, keep your distance, and at all costs, do not, repeat NOT, try to remove one of the fingers of your object of suspicion. If they are a zombie they will not feel pain, but you will attract their attention and they may then eat that pathetically atrophied organ you laughingly call your brain. Also, if they are a teacher you may get detention.
