Oh Spiky Beast

Oh spiky beast of dusk and night,
With legs so short and eyes so bright,
Oh creature of the urban hedge,
Who feasts on insects, slugs and veg,
Oh hedgehog, rollest thou up tight,
When evil creatures come in sight,
And standeth ‘neath the moon so bright,
And howl your challenge to the night.
Oh hedgehog, noble woodland thing,
Your silhouetted spikes can bring,
Us to our feet, a joyful throng,
And spirits joined, and voices strong,
We sing out loud the hedgehog song!
